Every year, millions of people make a deeply considered choice that reflects their values, culture and dreams: they name a baby. Each name they choose sends a message. Together, those name choices make up a fossil record of our culture.

 

I study baby name trends. I crunch numbers, draw graphs, pore over history and listen to parents. I use what I learn to help with naming decisions, and to uncover the revealing names-eye-view of our world.

 

My book The Baby Name Wizard is a detailed handbook of name style that guides readers to the names that fit their personal tastes. Now in its 4th edition, the book has been completely revised and updated.
